A Simple Math on Elections
Ever thought?
Poll ratio is usually below 50%, on an average 45%
Usually in a constituency, there are at least 3 candidates
These 45% votes are shared among at least 3 candidates
The winning candidate, at an estimate gets at most around 25% votes.
The largest political party does not have clear majority, i.e. more than 50% seats, that means aggregate votes the largest party has gained, is only around 12-13%
To form the government, the largest has to negotiate a deal of important ministries, which are offered in exchange of support.
Is our Parliament a “CHAUAPAL” WHERE THEY WOULD PLAY THEIR CARDS, ONLY IN THEIR INTEREST?
Does the government represent people of India?
No.
The only difference it has made is, people use to elect who would beat lashes on them.
THIS IS UNTRUE DEMOCRACY, JUST TO FOOL PEOPLE

Your analysis is technically correct! But, with all its faults and limitations, this is the BEST system we have…and the people of India are using this system, however imperfectly, with great dexterity, and, with fairly powerful messages, from time to time!
But yes, we could always do with mid-course corrections and improvements!

It is NOT the best system
Even the lowest level class 4 employee to be recruited has to have minimum qualifications and his credentials are supposed to be verified. But anybody, even a criminal, can join politics and become even the president of India! Is it the best system?
No! No! No! No!
I demand the following as bare minimun
1) Like election commission and CVC, Police and CBI must be independent, autonomoue statutory entities headed by a SINGLE PERSON and he wll use his powers like T N Seshan did.
2)Police shall not be a state subject
3) All politiciens must be registered with Election commmission. The EC will insis on clean background like past 15 years IT returns, Police records etc.
4)Each MLA MP shall maintain website/ offfice where people can tell what is expected of him or her.
5)The budget and performance assesment of elected representatives must be in terms of quantitative terms. Govt and MP/MLAs will be entitled for Tax/salary and perks only when the objectives are met. Present system of govt simply sucking Road tax and leaving the roads full of pot holes mut be stopped. Citizens shall have a right to refuse to pay tax if he or she did not get performance from govt.
6) Criminal law must be amended. Punishemnt for abetting/ enabling/ condoning/passively suppporting a crime must be same as the punishemnt for original crime.
7)Corruption by those in political power must be punished iwth death sentence. Let a few heads roll. The nation is better without them. Some times crime can be eradicated only be eradicating criminals.
8) Crimes against the society- like damaging public property, cheating million consumer for small amount and amassing wealth, spreading communal hatred must be punished with death. You need to be ruthless and swift in these mattters like the gulf regimes.
9) Judiciery must accountable. There are any no of cases dragging for years together but how come cases of amitab bachhan and Shilpa setty get prority?
10)Anonimous pettinong must be legal. In U.S Sarbanes Oxley Act 2005 requires CEO to enable anonymous reporting by ther employees.
11) Political parties must raise money from only their cadrers and the money must be routed through Income Tax dept and election commmission.
12) Corporations must spend money only for their legitimate business purposes and cannot make political donations. Many corporatiosn especially PSUs spend money on ‘advertisments’ only to purchase local journalist’s silence
