Justice for Jessica or anyone – How does it matter to us?
Thursday, April 27th, 2006The verdict of acquittal of all accused in Jessica Lall murder case has upset millions of people of India. Though it left entire nation stunned, yet this has provoked people of India to express their innermost, their outrage and The Truth which inhabits in the hearts of millions of Indians. People have united together at one front, irrespective of their castes and religions, in favor of Truth – The Greatest religion of all.
The unfair verdict has upset me too. Since then, I am having sleepless nights. I would go to bed, turn on my PC and start typing again for 2-3 hours. And I would repeat this couple of times in a single night.
So why did people of India expressed their concern for justice?
- Just because it poses a threat “What happened to Jessica, could happened to anyone else too”?
- Or because, “Sabrina is fighting the evil and we too have joined her to fight the evil” ?
Both the above causes are true and correct, but I am sure most of us Indians think beyond.
Sabrina has been fighting a battle for 7 years, alone. Why and what for? What kind of justice will she get? She lost her Jessica and no justice can bring her back.
Jessica will never come back, never! Then why is she alone fighting against the evil?
Sabrina has a concern about our Jessica. She lost her Jessica, but she doesn’t want us to loose our Jessica. She, like all of us, has firm faith in Law and Order and she not only wanted to maintain it but to even strengthen it. So this is the justice she has been fighting for and she didn’t get it.
For 7 years, she has been fighting our battle and we left her alone. Better late than never! Now we all Indians will fight this battle together until we win. Now it is the battle of the people of India. It is battle for justice to the entire nation.
It is well understood, “Those who have one enemy, are supposed to be friends”. We do not have enmity with the accused but the crime is.
Our fight against crime is common among all of us, whether or not the victim is related to us.
